Hey There!

My name is Andrea Nandoo, and I often feel like a 26-year-old Millennial underwater. Growing up as a queer West Indian on Long Island, NY, finding a way to "fit in" never came easy. When choosing my friends, partners, or jobs, I learned that pursuing opportunities that force you to compromise on your values, culture, or personality is not worth your time.

During my last years at SUNY New Paltz, my schedule was jam-packed with MBA classes, clubs, being a Resident Assistant, and working two jobs in our School of Business.  Unfortunately, a week before graduation day, my little brother was involved in a near-death experience from a car accident. Faced with a tragedy of almost losing a sibling and taking care of him for two months, I was forced to re-evaluate what was important to me.

My plan of sitting in a corporate office turned to visions of pursuing a career that would allow me to express my creativity and spend ample time with my family and friends. Living with my sister in Brooklyn, I spent my days being an SEO Analyst at a marketing agency and spent my nights being a server/shift manager at a small dessert cafe. I grew my digital marketing skills and learned how to wed SEO techniques to web content properly. At the cafe, I studied consumer behaviors when it comes to consistency in product and service. I also learned that customers could be very particular about their brownies!

I am currently working as a freelance Content Writer for websites, digital, print, and social media. I have written copy that reflects the brands and voices for companies and industries across the spectrum. Passionate about authentic storytelling and cultural competency, I am not the writer who will jump on the next online trend without conducting thorough keyword and content research.
